The Memorial Home in Moundridge, Kansas has been providing quality nursing home care to its residents for many years. As the population has grown in their senior community, the need for more resident rooms continues.
Fuqua Construction, Inc. and GossenLivingston Architecture formed a Design Build team with the administration at Memorial Home to create this new addition. The first phase of this project was the remodel of an existing Nurse Station. The Nurse Station kept it’s necessary functions but the area was opened up to include a resident-friendly space with sofas, TV, a computer desk, and a small accessible kitchen for fresh-baked snacks with tables and chairs nearby.
As this Nurse Station was completed, construction began on the new Assisted Living addition. 12 new apartments were added along with some open common areas for residents to gather. The dining room, where hot meals from the main kitchen are served, provides a homey atmosphere with oak dining room tables and chairs, a vaulted ceiling, and a fireplace for the residents. The kitchen is supplied with an oven and dishwasher for those who want to make their own meal or bake cookies for their grandchildren. All these features combine to treat the senior community with care and dignity.
