The congregation of the First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas contacted Fuqua Construction when they were ready to update and remodel their sanctuary. Many surfaces in the sanctuary were covered in dark paneling, which has now been replaced with painted sheetrock walls. The block walls along the sides have also been sheetrocked and painted, bringing a clean, open feel to the sanctuary.
The remodeled stage area features an impressive stone section with a back-lit wooden cross, creating a feeling of worship and reverence as one enters the sanctuary. Portable chairs and stage furniture replaces the stationary choir pews, allowing the congregation to be flexible in their worship service and in special presentations. The original sanctuary cross has been moved to the back balcony where soft lighting accents it. New carpet and upholstered pew cushions add to the contemporary atmosphere. This congregation is excited about opportunities for service and outreach as they welcome their community to worship with them.
